A licensed CALM foster home is a family home in which 24-hour care is provided to children who are in need of out-of-home placement.CALM foster parents will be TIPS-MAPP certified and will meet all standards set forth by the Department of Children and Families.
Requirements
Requirements for becoming a foster parent will vary from state to state, but within the state of Kansas, they are as follows:
- Be at least 21 years of age or older
- Have reliable transportation
- Agree to non-physical discipline for the child/children
- Agree to a non-scheduled walk-through of your home
- Full background check for everyone living in the household
- Provide fingerprints for everyone over 14 years of age living in the household
- Licensure through DCF
- Work in a team environment with social workers and birth parents
- Complete the TIPS-MAPP classes
